IGP Morowali
Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) Morowali is an integrated nickel mining and processing project with an investment of around Rp 37,5 trillion.
Mining activities by PT Vale take place in Bungku Timur. Nickel ore from the mining is processed at a processing facility with RKEF technology in Sambalagi Village.
The RKEF factory is a collaboration between PT Vale and Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd (TISCO) and Shandong Xinhai Technology Co., Ltd (Xinhai).
IGP Morowali is the second growth project inaugurated by PT Vale, after the Pomalaa Project, which was inaugurated in November 2022.
RKEF Smelter 3D Model
The nickel processing facility in Morowali will be the second lowest carbon emission RKEF factory in Indonesia after PT Vale's smelter in Sorowako.

Our Advantages
The smelter at IGP Morowali will produce a capacity of up to 73 thousand tons of nickel per year.
IGP Morowali will be the first RKEF factory in Indonesia to be supported by a liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant with capacity of up to 500 megawatts (MW).
We also prepared a post-mining management plan by preparing a nursery to support land revegetation.
All plans allign with our commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 33% by 2030 and net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Priority on Environmental, Social and Governance
Protecting the Environment
We are committed to bringing our best operating practices from Sorowako to this expansion project. Regarding the environment, IGP Morowali will apply good mining practices as has been implemented in Sorowako.
Growing With Community
We are also committed to advancing the economy, increasing community capacity, and protecting the environment in conducting business and operations.
Even though the mining and processing activities at IGP Morowali have not started yet, we continue to run various social programs. In 2015-2021, we have disbursed IDR46.06 billion for various Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programs. One of them, in 2021, we have started introducing the Organic System of Rice Intensification (SRI) concept to farmers in the empowerment area.
Talent Priority and Governance
We are committed to complying with laws and regulations and upholding human rights. Our recruitment process at IGP Morowali adheres to our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) commitment. This project is projected to absorb up to 15 thousand workers in the construction phase.
We will also optimize the involvement of local entrepreneurs in the Morowali Site. We have conducted a series of Technical Training activities for Local Entrepreneurs to Participate in Goods and Services Tenders.
