Sustainable Mining Practices in The Eyes of Journalist

Vale Journalist Writing and Photo Competition (JWPC) is an annual competition for journalists. Starting in 2018, PT Vale appreciates journalists and photojournalists through their brilliant work with the theme "Sustainable Mining Practices".
Every year, JWPC welcomes photo and articles. The article competition is divided into three categories:
  • Luwu Raya local print/online category
  • Category print/online Regional Sulawesi (South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi)
  • National print/online category

​​​​​​COMPETITION RULES
 
  1. Participants fill out the online registration form via the link provided on the vale.com/Indonesia website by attaching all the required documents.
  2. The submitted works are downloaded to the participant’s Google Drive, including a pdf copy or website link from the mass media as proof of publication. Proof of publication or a link to the work of this paper is included in the registration form sent to the Committee.
  3. Submission of works to be contested to the Committee must include the following information:
  • Participant’s identity, namely name, address, electronic mail/e-mail, and telephone number that can be contacted.
  • Personal identity in the form of a valid Press ID or statement letter from the mass media where the participant works, accompanied by a valid Personal ID/Driving License/Passport.
  • Media name, publication date, and page when the writing was published on the media.
      4. One form is only for 1 (one) work. Participants who wish to submit more than 1 (one) work must repeat filling in the same form for each    work they wish to contest.
      5. This competition applies a knockout system. Only works submitted according to the procedure above will be accepted and judged by the Jury.

      7. The committee has the right to use all submitted works included in the competition for non-commercial interests of PT Vale                        Indonesia Tbk.
      8. The copyright for articles and photos remains with the creator. The committee is not responsible for copyright abuse by third parties, and in this regard, participants cannot make any demands.


SELECTION AND ANNOUNCEMENT
  1. Selection of submitted works will be carried out in January-February 2024.
  2. Announcement of winners and prize delivery schedule will be informed directly by the Committee to the winners and announced via the vale.com/Indonesia page.
  3. The Jury can decide on changes to the champion rankings by considering the nominations and the quality of the work.
  4. The decisions of the Committee and the Jury cannot be contested.
     
  1. Indonesian freelance journalists/journalists who work for local, national or foreign news agencies can participate in the competition.
  2. The categories for the writing competition are as follows:
  • Luwu Raya Local print/online category
  • Sulawesi Region (South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi) print/online category
  • National print/online category
      3. Provisions/limits of writing length are not less/more than :
  • Online category    :  800-1,800 words
  • Print category    :  700-1,500 words
      4. The written works/articles in the competition must :
  • Authentic/original work and not a translation, summary, or duplication/replication, and has never been or is not currently enrolled in other contests or competitions.
  • Written/created in the period 1 January to 31 December 2023.
  • In the form of straight news and feature articles related to PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, which are actual, informative and valuable.
  • Written in Indonesian according to the theme.
  • Has been published in print media (newspapers, tabloids, magazines) or online (news portals recommended by the Press Council) from 1 January to 31 December 2023. Proof of publication must be submitted in pdf format or a news link.
  • The original written work (MS Word, Arial 12 font and 1.5 spacing) and proof of publication are downloaded to the participant’s Google Drive. The link to this work is included in the registration form sent to the Committee.
       5. Participants can use the information on PT Vale’s official website as writing materials or contact the Committee Hotline for further information.
       6. Participants can include as many written works/articles as possible.
       7. The deadline for submitting work is 31 December 2023.
       8. Participants are free of charge to take part in this competition.
​​​​​​COMPETITION RULES
  1. Indonesian freelance journalists/journalists who work for local, national or foreign news agencies can participate in the competition.
  2. Photographs that are contested must:
  • Sent in JPEG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, a minimum size of 5 MB and a maximum of 10 MB.
  • Accompanied by an attached photo caption regarding the contents of the photo with 5W+1H elements and other data related to the photo phenomenon in MS Word format.
  • Authentic/original work on objects related to PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, has news value (journalistic photos), and has never been or is not currently enrolled in other contests or competitions.
  • Allowed digital processing is limited to improving the quality of photos (cropping, sharpening, color balance, levels, dodge/burn, and color saturation) without changing the authenticity of the photo object. It is not permitted to send photos in the form of combinations or processed results of several photos (montage)
  • Has been published in print media (newspapers, tabloids, magazines) or online (news portals recommended by the Press Council) from 1 January to 31 December 2023. Proof of publication must be submitted in pdf format or a news link.
  • Photographs and proof of publication are downloaded to the participant’s Google Drive. The link to this work is included in the registration form sent to the Committee.
       3. Participants can use the information on PT Vale’s official website as a photo description or contact the Committee Hotline for further information.
       4. Participants can include as many photographs as possible.
       5. The deadline for submitting work is 31 December 2023.
       6. Participants are free of charge to take part in this competition.
