Dique de Pedra had its emergency level reduced
The Dique de Pedra dam at the Fábrica mine, located in Ouro Preto (MG), had its emergency level reduced from 2 to 1 by the National Mining Agency (ANM) on December 23, 2023.
The structure is inactive and no longer receives tailings. It has recently undergone a series of interventions and corrective measures to address anomalies. The monitoring, safety controls and ongoing inspections of the dam reinforce this understanding.
The dam is constantly monitored by the Geotechnical Monitoring Center (CMG). It is also regularly inspected by internal and external teams. Vale remains committed to adhering to the best international engineering practices, always focusing on the safety of workers and the communities surrounding the structure.
