At the annual meeting, Vale highlighted the progress of its strategic agenda, based on three pillars (having a superior portfolio, being a reliable partner and being results-driven), which will guide the company to a promising future, focusing on the 2030 horizon.

Superior portfolio

Vale is committed to having a high-quality and flexible iron ore portfolio, while focusing on client-oriented solutions and accelerating growth in copper. One important step forward in this strategy has been the consolidation of partnerships, such as those to develop Mega Hubs and build an iron ore concentration plant in partnership with Jinnan Group, and our collaboration with Rio-Minas, which will guarantee access to 3.8 million tons of high-quality pellet feed.

Results-driven

Vale’s strategy includes setting the benchmark for safety and operational excellence, ensuring competitiveness by being an agile and talent-driven company, and fostering innovation and digital solutions. We have a significant opportunity to improve our competitiveness and, to do so, it is essential for us to consolidate a results-oriented culture. We are already eliminating bureaucracy and simplifying processes, creating space for our talented employees to stand out. The cultural transformation we have adopted in recent years, with a focus on safety and operational excellence, will continue to advance while we support innovation and digital solutions, which are essential factors for increasing our efficiency.

In recent years, Vale has been undergoing a major cultural transformation with the aim of becoming a safer and more reliable company. We are finding scope to reposition the company through a broad initiative that seeks to positively impact society’s perceptions. By 2030, we aspire to be recognized as a reliable partner with a more competitive and resilient portfolio. To achieve this, we are cultivating institutional relationships, generating positive impacts for people and nature, and working to ensure greater trust through more transparent operations.

This year, the company reached some significant milestones, which were highlighted at the event and are part of a new cycle for Vale, defining the paths it will follow over the next five years.

ESG ratings: consistent improvements in indicators, especially reflecting advances in dam safety

Vargem Grande and Capanema project: start of commissioning work to expand our iron ore production by 30 million tons per year

Strategic partnerships: purchase of a 15% stake in Minas-Rio, operated by Anglo American, and a partnership with Jinan Group to build a plant in Sohar

Energy transition metals: execution of asset review to unlock business value

Cost discipline: delivering costs below estimates in 2024

Dam de-characterization: Vale has already eliminated 53% of its upstream dams in Brazil

Brumadinho: continued progress with reparations, reaching 73% completion, and the signing of a definitive Mariana agreement
