Coordinator of the Independent Support and Recovery Committee heads to Brumadinho

On Sunday afternoon (February 3), Leonardo Pereira, appointed on the previous Friday by Vale's Board of Directors as coordinator of the newly established Extraordinary Independent Advisory Committee (Comitê Independente de Assessoramento Extraordinário (CIAE) for Support and Recovery), visited the city of Brumadinho.

Leonardo Pereira headed to the site to learn about the measures taken after the breach of Dam I at the Córrego do Feijão mine and set the Committee immediately in motion. The CIAE for Support and Recovery is monitoring the measures aimed at supporting the victims and recovery of the affected area to ensure that all due resources will be allocated.

The Committee for Support and Recovery was created during a special meeting of the Board of Directors held on January 27. During that meeting, the Board also created the CIAE for Investigation to identify the causes and the persons responsible for the dam breach. Both committees are coordinated and composed mostly by external, independent members who have a spotless reputation and solid experience in the issues addressed.
