PT Vale Indonesia (PT Vale) recently celebrated its 55th Anniversary, holding an amazing celebration befitting more than a half a century of operations in Indonesia. The main celebration took place on July 29th in Sorowako, East Luwu Regency. The event, which was open to employees and members of the community, featured musical entertainment, exhibits from local businesses, and awards for employees.
“The theme of this anniversary is ‘Semua berarti, semua berharga (everybody matters, everybody is valuable)’ because we know that every element of society – the community or local government, and PT Vale employees – have all contributed,” said PT Vale CEO Febriany Eddy during her remarks at the event. “So, we want everyone to be able to enjoy today’s event actively.”
Febriany said that PT Vale has demonstrated consistency and commitment through its 55 years of operation. Indeed, during his visit earlier this year to PT Vale’s Sorowako operation, Indonesian President Joko Widodo asked mining companies in Indonesia to follow PT Vale’s sustainability practices.
PT Vale, then known as PT International Nickel Indonesia, was formally established in July 1968. Deeply committed to sustainable operations PT Vale has a long history of sustainable achievements including the construction and operation of the Larona hydropower plant and support for biodiversity conservation in Sorowako, among many other initiatives.
With several major nickel projects, including Bahodopi, Sorowako, and Pomalaa, in progress, PT Vale is an important source of growth for Vale Base Metals and it will be a significant contributor to the social and economic wellbeing of Indonesia for many years to come.
“I ask for prayers and the blessing of support from the community and local government,” Febriany said during her remarks. “So that PT Vale can continue to exist, celebrating its birthday for several more decades ahead.”
