We have three operating areas in Sulawesi Island
IGP Pomalaa
We officially started the Pomalaa Block project with a groundbreaking ceremony on November 27, 2022.
Partnering with Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. (Huayou), the Pomalaa Block Project will operate under PT Kolaka Nickel Indonesia (KNI), with a total investment package of Rp67.5 trillion (US$4.29 billion) for a High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) based processing plant and mine.
Our HPAL factory in the Pomalaa Block will produce nickel as a mixed hydroxide precipitate (MHP). This product can be used as the main ingredient in electric vehicle batteries. The project is expected to generate around 12,000 construction jobs in the area.

IGP Morowali
Following the Pomalaa Block, the Morowali IGP was groundbreaking on February 10, 2023. This project covers integrated low-carbon nickel mining and processing in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi.
The mining locations are in Bungku Timur and Bahodopi Districts, while the processing plant locations are in Sambalagi Village, Bungku Pesisir District.
The Morowali project will be developed by PT Vale and its partners. PT Vale plays a full role in the construction and operation of mining facilities. Meanwhile, PT BNSI, a joint venture established by PT Vale and its partners, will be in charge of the construction and operation of the processing plant.

Sorowako Block
The signing of our cooperation agreement with Huayou on September 13, 2022, adds to another development project we officially announced to the public.
We are strengthening our collaboration again by working with Huayou to build a nickel processing plant with HPAL technology in Sorowako, South Sulawesi.
Our cooperation started in early 2022 through a feasibility study, which yielded positive results, and became our foundation for moving forward with the signing of the Heads of Agreement. Our cooperation started in early 2022 through a feasibility study, which yielded positive results, and became our foundation for moving forward with the signing of the Heads of Agreement.
