COVID-19 Handling

The years 2020 to 2021 were tough years, due to the global pandemic that forces restrictions on social interactions and activities. However, thanks to our solid collaboration, we have managed to adapt to the challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Anticipation and mitigation of the impact of COVID-19 in the company refer to internal pandemic handling standards and prevention and control guidelines from the government. We carried out large-scale rapid testing of employees and contractors in Sorowako to detect the possible spread of COVID-19 in our operations early.

The Company also contributes to preventing the spread and handling of COVID-19 in several areas, namely East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi and Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi as well as areas outside our operational areas such as Palopo, North Luwu, North Toraja. and Toraja.

We provide assistance to the East Luwu Regency Government, through the District COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling (GTPP). At the provincial level, we also provide assistance to the Province of South Sulawesi through the Provincial GTPP COVID-19 and Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Makassar.

We also assist our contractors with financial support to prevent layoffs. In line with this, we have not carried out any layoffs for PT Vale employees during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the impact of COVID-19.

We held the first COVID-19 Vaccination Program (Gotong Royong Vaccination) on 9-23 July 2021. Until 2022, in accordance with government recommendations, we are still implementing strict health protocols to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in mining operations, production facilities and head office. To ensure the health of our employees and contractors, we carry out regular medical check-ups.

Employees and contractors must carry out an annual medical examination every year. We organize several non-occupational health promotion activities (PAK) for employees and contractors/suppliers.

The efforts made have led us to receive appreciation from the Ministry of Manpower as the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Program in the Workplace with the Gold predicate and the HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control Program in the Workplace Award with the Gold predicate.
