The project will continue copper production in the municipality
 
The public hearing on the Bacaba Project has already been confirmed. It will take place on October 31st. The event is open to the entire community of Canaã dos Carajás, who will be able to learn about the project and ask questions.  

The Bacaba Project is a new copper operation that will use the infrastructure of the Sossego Unit, guaranteeing its operation for at least another 8 years. This will contribute to the local economy, preserve jobs and create new opportunities for Canaã dos Carajás. The project involves mining activities and the transportation of ore for crushing and processing at the Sossego Operating Unit, located around 10 km from the Bacaba deposit. The project is in the environmental licensing process for mining and transporting copper ore, and the area earmarked for implementation is owned by Vale.
