Vale provides $ 6.5 million worth in equipment to the Forensic Medicine Facility (IML) of Belo Horizonte

Vale is sparing no efforts to support the people affected by the dam breach

Vale invested R$ 6.5 million in leading-edge equipment for the Forensic Medicine Facility (IML) of Belo Horizonte. The first equipment installed was a flat scan (x-ray scanner to be used in expert reports) worth R$ 1.3 million. The equipment already delivered amounted to R$ 1.7 million and further deliveries will be carried out.

Vale is sparing no efforts to support the people affected by the dam breach. Learn about the measures already implemented:

- Financial aid

The service to register for the R$ 100,000.00 donation is available on weekdays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Brumadinho Knowledge Center, located at Rodovia MG 040, KM 49, Área Rural Brumadinho). By February 6, 294 representatives had registered, and 129 donations had been made.

Eligibility applies to representatives of Vale employees, of third-party employees and of the missing and/or deceased members of the community, as per the official list validated by the Civil Defense and made available on vale.com/brumadinho.

Vale will extend the humanitarian financial aid to the families of the Self-Saving Zone (ZAS) of the Emergency Action Plan for Mining Dams (PAEBM). Aid will be divided in two financial categories: one for all the families residing in the ZAS, which will receive a R$50,000.00 donation, and a second one for those who did not reside at the ZAS but carried out rural or commercial activities registered by the company when the PAEBM was created. For the latter, the donation will be R$ 15,000.00. The procedures to receive the humanitarian financial aid are yet to be released.

- Funeral assistance and funeral grant

Vale is providing funeral assistance and covering expenses of the affected families. Coverage includes procedures such as notary expenses, transfer of bodies, urns, ornaments, graves, burial etc.

- Transportation and traveling between the communities

After a meeting with the Department of Public Works of Brumadinho, the Civil Defense Brumadinho and the Department of Roads and Highways (DER), it was decided that a bridge would be built over Avenida Alberto Flores to re-establish safe access and transit of the affected communities, such as the Parque da Cachoeira and Córrego do Feijão communities. The company plans to complete the works within three weeks.

In addition, Vale is also offering transportation between the Córrego do Feijão Community Center and the Brumadinho bus station. Transportation is available daily, at the following departure times: 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
